CHILD WINDOW FALL PREVENTION CAMPAIGN

Many safety campaigns happen during a designated week of the year.  Unfortunately, child window falls are not limited to scheduled times.  They most often occur when people open the windows of their home.  Stop At 4" has set up the campaign for 2018 to cover the months of June and July, the months when children in the Pacific NW are most likely to fall from the windows of their homes.

This year's campaign is a coordinated effort among safety professionals across the four county metro area including Clackamas, Clark, Multnomah, and Washington Counties.  The following safety-minded organizations are joining forces to provide messaging on Tri-Met buses to remind citizens to keep windows where children live an play to be:

  • closed and locked

  • when opened to be limited to less than 4 inches of opening

  • to keep furniture clear of windows

  • teach children to stay at least 3 feet away from open windows.

The following community agencies are promoting this year's campaign.  Contact the agency closes to you to learn more.  You can also visit the rest of the Stop At 4" web site for more information.
